(TITC) – On 18th April 2023, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietjet Air held a ceremony to celebrate the commencement of Vietjet’s new direct flights to Australia. Speaking at the ceremony, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh sent his warm greetings to Mr. Don Farrell, congratulated Vietjet Air having successfully deployed direct flights between Vietnam and Australia, especially the first direct flight between Vietnam and Brisbane, Australia on 16th June 2023.
With success in the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnam has officially reopened all tourism activities from 15th March 2022. In the first quarter of 2023, Vietnam served about 27.5 million domestic visitor trips and welcomed 2.7 million international visitor arrivals, including nearly 100,000 arrivals from Australia. Australia is one of the top 10 source markets of Vietnam tourism.
VNAT’s Chairman expects that with the participation of Vietnamese airlines, especially Vietjet Air's newly direct flights in 2023 connecting Vietnam and Australia, the number of tourists between the two countries will soon recover and strong growth in the near future.
Vietjet Air officially opened the first direct flight connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Melbourne on 8th April 2023 and Ho Chi Minh City - Sydney on 12th April with a frequency of 3 round-trip flights per week.
Especially, from 16th June, 2023, Vietjet Air will officially operate the route between Ho Chi Minh City and Brisbane, used modern fleet of Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
This is the first time in 50 years since diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia were established, a direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Brisbane has been operated, marking an important milestone in tourism and travel, economic and cultural exchange between the two countries.
