The 9th Hue Traditional Craft Festival - 2023 “the quintessence of Vietnamese traditional Crafts” will take place from 28th April to 5th May 2023

Thereby, the main space of the festival stretches along the banks of the Perfume River and many other areas in Hue city with various art programmes imbued with the traditional cultural identity of the ancient and modern Hue capital.

Along with the original stages, there are events will be held for the first time at Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023, such as: Food festival with the theme "The quintessence of vermicelli craft", Street performance festival, Perfume River Gratitude Festival - boat lanterns on the river, aiming to set a new record related to the traditional craft performed at the Festival.

In the Opening Ceremony on 28th April 2023 at the square stage in front of Quoc Hoc School, audiences will enjoy unique art performances designed and arranged according to a story called “Worker's Hand”. Remixed music and choreography based on the mainstream of Hue music will be added as the adhesive to the story line.

The image of the traditional craft fire that will be lit by the previous generations of artisans, will be a new mark and also a difference in the opening night. The fire plays as the inherited spirit to the next generation artisans in the Closing Ceremony with the theme of "Passing the Fire" on the evening of 5th May 2023. The flame, in the shape of a lotus flower, is also a beautiful handmade creation, crafted by artisan Do Huu Triet with the art of Lam technic (enameled bronze), bearing the unique cultural significance of ancient Hue capital citadel.

Cultural - art exchange programme among cities around the world takes place at 8pm on 30th April 2023 at the square stage in front of Quoc Hoc School

This year, the Festival will focus on emphasising internationality with the cultural - art exchange programme among cities in Vietnam and around the world, in the brotherhood and cooperation with Hue… These create a space with  colourful, multi-layered, multi-style, making for a true festival. Under the “magic hands” of DJ Tri Minh, along with special performances from the Belgian stilt troupe, Korean artists and bands in Dongnae and Eunpyeong districts, Thang Long Music and Dance Theater, Bac Lieu Don Ca Tai Tu, Vinh Art Troupe, Duyet Thi Duong Theater, Hue Conservatory of Music, and Nam Dong District Art Troupe,... the show takes place at 8:00 p.m. on 30th April 2023 at Square in front of Quoc Hoc School.

Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023 brings positive impacts on the revival and development of traditional craft villages in Thua Thien Hue, including the promotion of cultural values, the enhancement of product values associated with the development of tourism services, focus on developing OCOP products, handicrafts associated with the development of rural industries and craft villages. At the same time, supporting the training for artisans in order to create more diverse, artistic and aesthetic product designs, combined with the production of gift and souvenir products to serve the demands of visitors.
