(TITC) - In 4-day holiday of National Day 2nd September 2023 (from 1st to 4th September), it is estimated that the whole country has served about 2.5 million visitor trips. The average room capacity of tourist accommodation establishments reached 55%, especially on 1st and 2nd September 2023, the capacity reached over 60%.
The number of international visitors increases in key tourist areas
Notably, the number of international tourists to key tourist localities has increased, which is a positive sign for Vietnam's inbound tourism season from upcoming October. Specifically: Da Nang is estimated to welcome 78,900 international visitor arrivals; Ha Noi is estimated to welcome more than 41,700 arrivals (up 83.6% over the same period of last year); Ho Chi Minh City is estimated to welcome 37,600 arrivals (up 15% over the same period); Khanh Hoa is estimated to welcome 23,450 arrivals (an increase of 363.34% over the same period);… Among them, there were mainly visitors from Korea, China, Europe, and America with a stay duration of about 4-5 nights.
Activities to welcome international tourists into Vietnam are diverse.
Short-day tour products and unique experiences attract small groups and families
In order to serve and meet the maximum demands of tourists for sightseeing, recreation, and relaxation, localities have closely coordinated with local tourism businesses to proactively renew and build new products; diverse and attractive tourism products, promotional programmes, accompanying service packages, etc. to attract and increase spending and length of stay of tourists.
A bright spot of this year is that Southern tourists have become interested and chosen short-term tours to experience the ripe rice season and the culture of highland ethnic minorities at destinations in the Northeast and Northwest regions such as Ha Giang Province, Lao Cai Province, Moc Chau Plateau... This proves that inter-regional tourism promotion, advertising and linkage activities have initially gone into effect.
Cultural tourism products at some landscape and relic sites such as the Mang Den plateau (Kon Tum Province), along heritage sites in the Central (Hue - Hoi An) have also been recording positive signals, attracting mainly tourists with families and small groups. For the group of tourists who choose the type of tourism "staycation" (travel in the city where they live) or "drivecation" (travel with self-drive), the most popular products is the tours to visit historical sites, notably the Saigon Ranger tour - Party Committee - People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, tour "Decoding Thang Long Imperial Citadel"; Night tour at Hoa Lo Prison Relic, tour to experience tourist attractions in the suburbs such as Bat Trang ancient village, ancient village in Duong Lam, Son Tay walking street (Ha Noi),...
At the same time, localities all organised festivals and cultural events in response to the holiday, notably the parade programme The 1st "Ao Dai connecting Tourism with Ha Noi Heritage 2023" in Ha Noi, or a series of art programmes celebrating the 78th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam taking place at the pedestrian street space of Hoan Kiem Lake (Ha Noi) and the surrounding area…
Attractive tourism products and entertainment activities have attracted tourists to many central areas, typically Ho Chi Minh City, which is estimated to welcome and serve 960,000 arrivals (an increase of 4.3% over the same period in 2022); Ha Noi: 640,000 arrivals (up 51%); Khanh Hoa: 503,154 arrivals (up 141%); Ba Ria - Vung Tau: 502,865 arrivals (up 28.26%); Thanh Hoa: 328,000 arrivals (up 26.6%); Da Nang: 254,000 arrivals (up 6.3%); Lam Dong: 120,000 arrivals (up 29.4%)...
For aviation businesses such as Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines…, the total number of flights operated during the holiday is expected to be more than 5,300 flights with a total number of seats served of 1.06 million seats. Besides, the railway industry has increased 30 trains from Ha Noi to Hai Phong, Vinh, Dong Hoi... on the occasion of National Day.
