Emphasising new points in the cooperative relationship, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said, with the active support from the embassy, the Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) has done well in its role as a member of the Francophone community.

At the Francophone Cultural Night 2023, Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) highly appreciated the role of Vietnam in the Francophone community. Above all, culture plays a crucial role in connecting countries, added MOCST’s Minister Nguyen Van Hung.

To continue to make good relations between France and Vietnam, especially on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1973-2023), MOCST’s Minister Nguyen Van Hung will attend a number of events related to the fields of Culture - Sports - Tourism from 15th to 19th November in France.

Thereby, during his working in France, MOCST’s Minister Nguyen Van Hung will have a meeting with his counterpart at the French Ministry of Culture to review the results of cooperation in the past, and propose some cooperation in the future.

In addition, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also organises art performances and exhibitions, introducing images and people of Vietnam to the people of France and internationally.

One of the important highlights of this business trip is a discussion on the situation of tourism cooperation between Vietnam and France, discussing solutions to increase the number of tourist exchanges between the two countries.

And as per plan, MOCST’s Minister Nguyen Van Hung will have a meeting with a representative of France - the host country of the Paris 2024 Olympics, to consider and support Vietnamese athletes participating in this Olympics.

MOCST’s Minister Nguyen Van Hung hopes that as French ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Olivier Brochet will support and pay attention to the activities of the two Ministries this time, serving as a bridge for active support to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation between the two Ministries in particular, between the States and Peoples of the two countries in general.

French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet stated, 2023 is a very meaningful year between Vietnam and France. With the slogan "Shared Culture" chosen by the two countries, the event clearly shows the cultural approach between the two countries.

According to French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet, Vietnam and France are two countries with rich cultures and are trying their best to protect each country's cultural identity in international forums. Both countries have also increased cultural exchange to better understand each other's identities and maintain each country's cultural diversity.

Expressing his joy about the upcoming working visit of Minister Nguyen Van Hung in France, the Ambassador said that the activities of the Minister as well as the delegation in France will be successful, leaving many impressions and becoming a highlight in the year celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Olivier Brochet informed that the French President Emmanuel Macron had accepted the invitation to visit Vietnam in late 2024 or early 2025. And during that visit, the French President also expressed his hope that both countries will propose a new, stronger cooperation framework with a vision for the next 20 years.

The fields of Culture-Sports-Tourism between the two countries have numerous potentials for cooperation, both countries can prepare appropriate directions to reach a signing during the visit of the French President to Vietnam.

Expressing support for the desire to increase and exchange tourists between the two countries that MOCST’s Minister Nguyen Van Hung mentioned, Ambassador Olivier Brochet praised, Vietnam has advantages in cultural heritage, and craft villages are also very good places to attract international tourists. Regarding tourism development associated with agriculture, the Ambassador said he also discussed with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam to promote cooperation between localities of the two countries in the coming time.

Regarding the field of Sports, Ambassador Olivier Brochet said he will arrange time to meet with the Vietnam Olympic Committee and sports federations with athletes participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"The Paris Olympics is an opportunity for us to strengthen cooperation in sports activities and tourism," he said.

Tourism Information Technology Center
