According to the tourism council of Chungcheong region which comprises Daejeon, Sejong, South Chungcheong, and North Chungcheong, representatives from the RoK discussed with those from Vietnamese localities on the opening of a direct air route between Cheongju and Van Don airports, and other measures to promote exchanges between the two countries. Both sides are looking for many measures to develop new tourism products. On the basis of opening new routes, the two sides have a joint marketing plan and promote cultural exchanges between the two countries and between localities.

Opening a direct flight route between Cheongju Airport, the gateway to the Chungcheong region, and Van Don Airport (to reach Ha Long Bay) will help restore economic, cultural and tourism exchanges between the two regions.

Earlier, representatives from the tourism council of Chungcheong region visited Ha Long city where they signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with the Vietnamese tourism sector.

Van Don Airport, 30 minutes from Ha Long Bay, is an international airport developed by Sun Group. This airport opened at the end of 2018, has a large apron and a 3,600m long runway, able to accommodate large aircrafts such as Airbus A350, Boeing B787.

Chungcheong region is also interested in the "Ha Long Street" project being implemented in this tourist city. Ha Long K-Street is a project to create a Korean-style street right in the centre of Ha Long city.

From an early stage, Quang Ninh Province has developed logistics and transportation services thanks to its abundant resources and geographical advantage. In particular, this place is considered one of the best tourist attractions in Vietnam due to its many unique marine landscapes including Ha Long Bay.
