(TITC) - On 27th January, in Vientiane, Laos, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam (MOCST), had a bilateral meeting with Mr. Phout Simmalavong, Minister of the Ministry of Education & Sports of Laos (MoES). Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director of the Department of International Cooperation (under MOCST) attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Phout Simmalavong, Minister of the Ministry of Education & Sports of Laos, thanked Vietnam for supporting Laos in organising activities of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2024 and thanked MOCST’s Minister Nguyen Van Hung for taking the time to visit the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports. Minister Phout Simmalavong also congratulated Vietnam on recent achievements in the fields of Sports and Tourism. It is known that Vietnam tourism post the pandemic era has made strong changes and recovered well. Vietnamese football has comprehensive development. The Lao Minister of Education and Sports hopes that Vietnamese sports will continue to reach higher and further in the future.
According to Minister Phout Simmalavong, Vietnam is also known as one of the countries in the ASEAN region that focuses on promoting the development of physical education activities at schools and educational establishments.

Responding to Lao Minister of Education and Sports Phout Simmalavong, Minister Nguyen Van Hung expressed his appreciation for Laos' sincere affection for Vietnamese culture, sports and tourism. Minister Nguyen Van Hung was delighted with the good and remarkable results that the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports has achieved recently. Minister Nguyen Van Hung also pointed out the advantage of Lao sports that Laos uses the school area as a place to train, educate and operate regular sports activities. Both Vietnam and Laos aim to develop people in a comprehensive way.
According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, each country has different sports development, however, Vietnam and Laos develop sports based on two main pillars: mass sports and high-performance sports. From mass sports, Vietnam and Laos have discovered many talents and have since then focused on training the country's sports athletes. Sharing difficulties with Laos, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that Vietnam is always ready to exchange information and experiences, to develop sports in the two countries.
