(TITC) - On 5th February 2024, the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam organised the Opening Ceremony of the exhibition space “Prolegomena to national education in Viet Nam” at the Special National Monument of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam.

The display uses more than 300 documents and artefacts, divided into 4 main content parts according to history to recreate the lives and contributions of King Ly Thanh Tong, King Ly Nhan Tong, King Le Thanh Tong, Teacher Chu Van An and influential people such as Nguyen Phi Y Lan, famous academics Le Van Thinh, Than Nhan Trung, Luong The Vinh, etc.
The display also connects the content with the exhibition "Quoc Tu Giam - The First National School" into a whole, helping the public better understand the history of the birth and development of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam relic site and the results of Vietnamese examination education during the monarchy.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Do Dinh Hong, Director of Ha Noi Department of Culture and Sports said, right from the beginning of the foundation of country, with the construction of the Temple of Literature in 1070 under the reign of King Ly Thanh Tong and the establishment of Quoc Tu Giam in 1076 under the reign of King Ly Nhan Tong, the Ly Dynasty kings showed respect for talented people, nourish vital energy to build a strong nation. During the Tran dynasty, although the country faced countless difficulties, education was yet valued and made new progress, with the appearance of many generations of teachers and students, typically teacher Chu Van An and his students. During the Le Dynasty, especially under the reign of King Le Thanh Tong, educational culture of Dai Viet (name of Vietnam country that time) had a brilliant development. For the first time in history, the examination was strictly organised, and those who passed the doctorate had their names engraved on stone stele located at Quoc Tu Giam.
Mr. Do Dinh Hong affirmed that this exhibition has the meaning of gratitude and honouring the contributions of predecessors and famous people who have laid the foundation for the development of National Education, created a layer of intellectuals in Vietnamese society during the monarchy.
