The 2023-2024 round-the-world yacht race is divided into 8 stages with 16 individual races and 6 ocean crossings.

Ha Long destination is in race number 5. The Clipper Race racing team is expected to arrive in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh, docking at Ha Long International Cruise Port from 17th February to 27th February with about 400 sailors. Among them, there are scientists, businessmen, investors, doctors, journalists, celebrities on social networks... who love the sport of sailing and represent many cities of countries with racing boats.​

To better grasp the opportunities from the race, from 21st February to 2nd March, Quang Ninh Province will organise a series of activities to promoteand attract tourism such as: Organising a reception ceremony to welcome racing teams to Quang Ninh; programme to introduce local products (OCOP) and promote Quang Ninh tourism; boat tour (static event); performing arts activities; tour programme for Clipper Race crew; conference to promoteand attract investment in Quang Ninh tourism associated with the race's Award Ceremony; race restart ceremony associated with racing boat parade…

Through the event, Quang Ninh Province wishes to introduce and promote the tourism image of Quang Ninh Province, introduce opportunities, potential, and projects to attract investment in Quang Ninh to international friends and potential investors. The event is also an opportunity for Quang Ninh Province to promote the image of beautiful nature, unique culture, friendly people, and a safe and attractive destination.

Participating in the 2023-2024 season are 11 racing yachts, of which Quang Ninh's racing yacht called "Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam" with the slogan "Endless Discoveries" is the only representative of Vietnam. Ha Long Bay racing yacht, Vietnam has just won race number 4: Marlow Roaring Forties Challenge.

In the previous season of Clipper Race, even though it was the first time participating, the sail yacht Long Bay - Viet Nam of Quang Ninh excelled over many other racing teams, winning 3rd place overall; actively contributing to bringing the heritage - wonders of Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh, Vietnam tourism to the world, promoting international communication about the beautiful, attractive destination of Ha Long, Vietnam, welcoming tourists around the world.

Clipper Race is a prestigious sailing race, starting in October 1996 in the United Kingdom. The race is a gathering place for businessmen, celebrities, tourism experts, and social activists with international influence. To date, there have been more than 50 famous cities around the world that are the stopping points of the race. Clipper Race helps bring good effects in communication, promotion, investment, tourism and connection, creating sustainable relationships between international partners. According to statistics, on average, at each race, each racing yacht and destination port receive nearly 6,000 posts in the online press, 500 radio news, more than 100 paper publications, and more than 2,000 posts on social networks and transmit information to 165 countries around the world.
