(TITC) - Flight No. T5-655 of Turkmenistan Airlines from Ashgabat (Capital of Turkmenistan) landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) at 1:30 a.m. on 6th March 2024, after nearly 10 hours of flight.
This is the first regular direct flight on the Vietnam - Turkmenistan route operated by Turkmenistan National Airlines. This non-stop flight, more than 5,000 km long, uses a Boeing 777 wide-body air craft.
According to VnExpress news, the aircraft took off at Ashgabat airport at 3:30 p.m. on 5th March and landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 1:30 a.m. on 6th March. Turkmenistan Airlines will operate two flights per week on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 5th March to 27th October. Economy class round-trip ticket price is about USD 500 (VND 12 million).

Before operating commercial routes, in 2022, this airline first operated a cargo route to Vietnam using the Airbus-330-200P2F. By 2023, Turkmenistan Airlines operated one more cargo flight to Ha Noi every week.
Mr. Toyli Sakhadov - senior leader of Turkmenistan Airlines has positioned Vietnam as a potential market since 2014. By 2022, the airline has signed a contract to buy two new passenger aircraft, Boeing-777-300ER, with a capacity of 368 seats to prepare for direct flights to the Southeast Asian country.

Sharing about the new journey, Mr. Serdar Nazarov - one of the first passengers on Flight No. T5-655 of Turkmenistan Airlines, said that the direct flight has helped shorten the travel time by nearly half, to about 9 hours compared to 18 hours when flying a connecting flight. The Boeing 777 aircraft has comfortable seats, a comfortable and airy passenger cabin, and professional flight attendants to help him feel more secure on his 4th business trip to Vietnam.
