(TITC) - On 21st March 2024, in Ha Noi, Mr. Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Culture (MOCST) had a meeting with High-level delegation of US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC), leading by Former US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius, President & CEO of the US-ABC.

Welcome the delegation to visit and work at the MOCST's headquarters, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong said, Vietnam and the United States upgrading the comprehensive strategic partnership has brought the two countries' relationship to a new level. The fields of culture, sports and tourism, especially the fields of tourism and cultural industry, needs to take the lead and develop commensurate with the potential, advantages and good relations between the two countries. This is also a bridge for Vietnam and the United States to cooperate closely, promote a closer relationship, and bring better results, for the common benefit of the two countries, emphasised MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ho An Phong.

US-ABC has worked with the MOCST to carry out many successful projects promoting Vietnam tourism. Among them are the positive effects from the blockbuster movie Kong: Skull Island and the Netflix film project "A Tourist's Guide to Love". Through these products, famous landscapes and tourist destinations of Vietnam such as Trang An, Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hoi An, My Son and Ha Giang have been widely spread across the world.

Regarding plans to promote Vietnam tourism in the international markets in the coming time, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ho An Phong said, it is expected that the tourism industry will deploy activities to promote Vietnam tourism through cinema, promoting Vietnamese culture and tourism in the United States. He hopes that US-ABC and the Vietnamese community in the United States will support the MOCST, becoming a bridge to carry out long-term promotion activities as well as contribute good ideas during the process of promoting Vietnamese culture and tourism.

Former US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius, President & CEO of the US-ABC sends congratulations to Vietnam's tourism industry for a successful 2023. In 2023, Vietnam - the United States celebrated the 10th anniversary of establishing the Comprehensive Partnership framework, along with the decision to upgrade the relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development. According to Former US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius, this event opens a new chapter in Vietnam - United States relations, while creating favourable conditions for the two countries to join hands to develop together in many fields, including tourism.

Vietnam is a country with a rich, attractive culture and identity. Vietnam's tourism development potential is extremely large, provinces and cities across the country are actively exchanging and cooperating for development with countries around the world. Mr. Ted Osius hopes that there will be more opportunities to cooperate with theMOCST, provide solutions to support tourism businesses, promote digital transformation, apply innovation models in the fields of culture, sports and tourism and exchange international experiences.

As for the businesses in the delegation, Mr. Michael Nguyen, General Director of Boeing Vietnam and Chairman of the Vietnam Committee of US-ABC stated, Boeing continues to support and work with Vietnamese airlines in the areas of capacity building, aviation safety and quality, sustainable development, training and other related fields. Boeing also spent time discussing with a number of ministries, departments and agencies to present about sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Boeing representatives also said they are ready to support the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in areas of cooperation as proposed by the Ministry.

A representative of Marriott Group affirmed that it will accompany the development of Vietnam's hotel industry in the future and proposed that Vietnam consider further relaxing visa policies to facilitate tourism development. Meanwhile, representatives of Abbott Group proposed amending a number of provisions in the Draft Revised Advertising Law to harmonise with the business activities of foreign enterprises.

Appreciating the willing spirit of cooperation of US-ABC and businesses in the delegation, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ho An affirmed that the Government of Vietnam always creates the best conditions for foreign businesses, including US businesses, to operate effectively in Vietnam. The MOCST will accompany localities across the country, promoting effective cooperation between the two sides, creating the best conditions for businesses from both sides to cooperate with each other.
