(TITC) - On the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the liberation of Phu Yen (1st April 1975 - 1st April 2024), on 30th March, in Tuy Hoa City, the People's Committee of Phu Yen Province held the Opening Ceremony of Phu Yen Culture and Tourism Week 2024 with the theme "Travel Phu Yen heritage region".

Phu Yen Culture and Tourism Week 2024 aims to introduce unique cultural features, promote tourism potential, attract investment, and contribute to stimulating tourism development. Through this event, Phu Yen creates conditions for tourism businesses in the area to promote and introduce products, expand markets, trade and exchange experiences in tourism development.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Dao My, Vice Chairman of Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee emphasised, in recent years, Phu Yen's tourism has prospered, achieved certain achievements, and initially made positive contributions to the province's socio-economic development; create jobs for workers, increase income and living standards of people in tourist areas and destinations; Urban, rural and environmental landscapes change clearly.
Tourism contributes to promoting the image of the land and people of Phu Yen, promoting socio-economic development, and gradually building the province's tourism brand. With its potential and unique values, Phu Yen is aiming to develop tourism into a key economic sector by 2030, a green, clean, safe, attractive and friendly destination for tourists.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism stressed, Phu Yen Province needs to invest in upgrading tourism infrastructure, especially the transportation system connecting tourist destinations. The province continues to promulgate mechanisms and policies to support tourism businesses in the area, attract strategic investors, and promote national cultural identity associated with sustainable tourism development.
Phu Yen also needs to prioritise focusing on promoting the province's unique competitive advantages and transferring resource values such as the geopark is associated with rock heritage sites (Da Dia reef, Da Bia Mountain) as a characteristic element that attracts tourists. In addition, the province needs to exploit the value of natural space in the western region (Van Hoa plateau) to differentiate products from marine space; from there, attracting tourists not only to enjoy the beach but also experience eco-tourism products, develop green tourism, agricultural and rural tourism associated with community tourism services.

Phu Yen Culture and Tourism Week 2024 takes place from 30th March to 5th April with main activities such as: exhibition fairs, promoting OCOP products, cuisine and tourism; competition of music bands in the province; performing intangible cultural heritage combined with performing unique traditional costumes on the land of Phu Yen.
In localities in the province, a number of programmes and activities in response are also taking place such as: Performing the art of Bai Choi singing; SUP boat racing, basket swinging; introducing delicious dishes, demonstrating dishes from ocean tuna; Artistic photo contest of scenic spots and historical relics; martial arts performances and fighting competitions; art competition, volleyball competition…
