There were more than 100 delegates who are leaders of departments and branches of Lao Cai Province, Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, Vietnam Airlines branch in Japan; representatives of JATA, Jetro, AJC organisations; enterprises of Lao Cai Province and Japan.

Addressing the event, Chairman of Lao Cai provincial People’s Committee Trinh Xuan Truong indicated that the conference has a very special meaning, with the desire to bring Lao Cai closer to Japanese businesses to share, cooperate and together turn potential, strengths and ideas into reality, help Lao Cai develop rapidly, grow green and sustainably in the coming time.

Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee introduced the potential and comparative advantages for socio-economic development of the province, including advantages in border gate economic development; industrial development potential; potential for agricultural and forestry development; and tourism development potential.

At this conference, Lao Cai Province hopes promoting and attracting Japanese businesses to research and invest in areas which Lao Cai Province has strengths, such as development cooperation in tourism, cultural exchanges, organising festivals and events; cooperate on investment in building logistics centres to serve export-import businesses; cooperation in the fields of industry, supporting industries, processing and manufacturing industries applying high technology, mining and deep processing of minerals; applying science - technology and modern techniques to production, processing and consumption of agricultural products for export such as vegetables, flowers, medicinal herbs...; cooperation in labour - vocational training, bringing Vietnamese workers to Japan to work.

Speaking at the conference, representatives of Japanese organisations JATA, Jetro, AJC evaluated the potentials, advantages, especially the attractions of Lao Cai. It is a combination of nature and culture; economic potential; investment environment. Therefore, Japanese organisations and businesses hope that the two sides will deepen the relationship and research exchange and cooperation for mutual development and prosperity.

At the conference, Japanese investors and businesses asked many questions and received specific answers from Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Trinh Xuan Truong. The head of Lao Cai provincial government affirmed: All are ready and welcome Japanese organisations, corporations and businesses to learn and invest.

5 memorandum of understanding (MOU) were awarded, including the Memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation between the Department of Tourism of Lao Cai Province and Vietnam Airlines Branch in Japan;  MOU on the implementation of the Bao Thang Biomass Power Plant project (Lao Cai) between the Department of Planning and Investment of Lao Cai Province and Erex Co., Ltd. Joint Stock Company, Japan; MOU on receiving Lao Cai (Vietnam) workers to work in Japan between the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Lao Cai Province and Happy Life Corporation Joint Stock Company, Japan; MOU on cooperation in receiving technical interns between Lao Cai College and Tsukuba Kogyo Joint Stock Company, Japan; MOU on technology transfer and mushroom growing techniques between the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lao Cai Province and OGAWA KINOKOEN Joint Stock Company, Japan.
