The 9-compartment house of Mr. Nong Hai Duong's family was built between 1899 and 1903. Initially, the house had 3 wooden compartments (8.5 m wide, 23 m long), yin-yang tiled roof, wooden walls. The lower floor was for farming tools and poultry feeding. The upper floor was the family living space; the middle compartment held the ancestral altar and also for receiving guests; kitchen was behind. In 1934, the house was reinforced and added 6 rooms, becoming the unique 9-compartment architecture as today.

With an area of ​​400 m², the house frame includes over 100 wooden columns, of which forty 9m high columns. The roof is covered with traditional yin and yang tiles. There are no wall partitions between the compartment, creating a large living space.

Up to now, the 9-compartment stilt house, although more than 100 years old, has still stood strong for many generations. Mr. Nong Hai Duong's family still retains the unique culture of the Tay ethnic group. The house is not only special in its durability but also the connection of each member of the family.

Today, along with economic and social development, people's lives are improved, high buildings gradually replace ancient stilt houses. The old stilt houses become more and more precious because of culture and architecture value.

Organizing the opening tourist site of 9-compartment old stilt house is the first step, creating conditions to promote tourism potential with the participation of the local community.
