(TITC) - Michelin has officially unveiled The MICHELIN Guide Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang 2024 edition. The MICHELIN GUIDE Ceremony 2024 took place at InterContinental Saigon Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City on 27th June. Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) attended the event.

Founded in France in 1900, the MICHELIN GUIDE is published regularly every year with the mission of making driving and travelling and finding unforgettable experiences easier for everyone.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ahmad Faiez Mohamed Pisal, Managing Director of MICHELIN Vietnam said, by promoting top dining venues and accommodations in various destinations, the MICHELIN GUIDE enhances the traveller experience and helps the tourism industry grow stronger. These activities demonstrate the MICHELIN philosophy of bringing a better life along with social progress.

Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of Sun Group, MICHELIN GUIDE partner in Vietnam, said, after nearly 2 years of cooperation with MICHELIN GUIDE, Sun Group has witnessed very proud achievements in the journey of bringing Vietnamese cuisine to the world. In Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, restaurants honoured by the MICHELIN GUIDE for the first time in 2023 have had remarkable growth, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign diners.
He emphasised, cooperating with MICHELIN GUIDE helps Sun Group get closer to its goal of bringing the quintessence of Vietnamese cuisine to the world, making Vietnam a world-class culinary destination for tourists to wish to visit once in their lifetime.
This is the second time MICHELIN GUIDE has organised a ceremony to honour culinary addresses worth experiencing in Vietnam. Da Nang is the first destination to appear at this year's awards along with Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
All selected catering establishments are evaluated by anonymous MICHELIN GUIDE appraisers based on 5 criteria: the quality of the ingredients used, the cooking talent, the harmony of the ingredients, the chef's personality in the dish and the consistency of the dish over time and across the entire menu. These criteria are applied at all MICHELIN GUIDE destinations around the world to ensure consistent and fair selection as well as consistent and international standards.
The newly released Guide showcases 164 establishments in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Notably, Nén Danang is Vietnam’s first restaurant to earn the MICHELIN Green Star. The MICHELIN Green Star highlights establishments at the forefront of the industry for their sustainable practices and dining experiences that combine culinary excellence with outstanding eco-friendly commitments.
While all of the one MICHELIN Star restaurants from the previous selection - Gia, Hibana by Koki, Tầm Vị, and Ănăn Saigon - retain their distinctions, the 2024 one MICHELIN Star selection welcomes 2 newcomers and 1 promotion. The 2 newcomers awarded one MICHELIN Star are: Akuna (Ho Chi Minh City), a restaurant offering creative European dishes with Vietnamese influences, plus optional wine pairing; La Maison 1888 (Da Nang) and The Royal Pavilion (Ho Chi Minh City).
The number of Bib Gourmand eateries is double last year’s list, featuring a total of 58 establishments: 18 in Ha Noi, 24 in Ho Chi Minh City, and 16 in Da Nang.
A selection of 99 establishments (of which, 40 newcomers) listed in the MICHELIN Selected category: 33 in Ha Noi (of which, 5 newcomers), 47 in Ho Chi Minh City (of which, 16 newcomers), and 19 in Da Nang (all newcomers).

Three MICHELIN Guide Special Awards 2024 go to: Sommelier Award is presented to Toan Nguyen from La Maison 1888, the only restaurant in Da Nang that is awarded one MICHELIN Star; Service Award is given to Anh Nguyen from Si Dining, a MICHELIN-selected restaurant in Da Nang; the Young Chef Award is given to Chef Duy Nguyen from Little Bear, a new MICHELIN selected restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City.
The MICHELIN GUIDE Ceremony honours the results of persistent and creative labour of restaurants and eateries in the most vibrant cities in the country, which has strongly inspired the culinary community and is the driving force for them to reach new heights, contributing to highlighting the mark of Vietnamese cuisine on the world culinary map.
