Giving Welcome speech, Ms. Song Eun Kyeong - Director of MICE Marketing Team, Korea Tourism Organization said, Korea and Vietnam have actively engaged in exchanges in various fields since the establishment of diplomatic relations, especially tourism exchanges that have played an important role in connecting Korea and Vietnam.

The number of Korean tourists to Vietnam in 2023 reached 3.6 million arrivals. Vietnamese tourists to Korea increased regularly after Covid-19, and surpassed the 420,000 arrivals in 2023, taking the lead to become the largest and most important market in Southeast Asia. If the growth momentum continues, tourism exchanges between the two countries are expected to exceed 5 million visitor arrivals for the first time since reopening. In particular, Vietnam is an important market for MICE tourism for Korea.

According to Mr. Kang Boosung, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang, the Central region of Vietnam, with Da Nang city as its centre, is a key area for human exchange and tourism between Korea and Vietnam, with about 1.7 million South Korean arrivals in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic. As of the end of June this year, with tourism demand recovering, there were about 23 direct flights between Da Nang and South Korea operating every day and more than 780,000 South Korean citizens travelled to the place in the first half of 2024 alone.

In the framework of the Korea MICE Roadshow 2024, KTO Vietnam introduced MICE tourism, along with the strengths and advantages of Korea in this potential type of tourism; attractive destinations, unique culture - cuisine, interesting experiences... At the same time, introduce support policies for travel agencies and businesses bringing MICE tourists to Korea.

Also, on 7th August, B2B Meeting activities took place enthusiastically between representatives of Vietnamese and Korean tourism and travel agencies, opening up many cooperation opportunities for all parties.

Korea MICE Roadshow 2024 will also be held in Ho Chi Minh City on 9th August with the highlight of the seminar directly introducing Korean incentive tourism products to potential Vietnamese businesses that are interested in implementing incentive tourism products abroad, including Korea.
