With the aim of promoting Vietnam as an attractive destination for tourism and golf and encouraging healthy competition among golf courses to improve their services to better meet the needs of golfers, the voting “Vietnam’s Best Golf Course” was launched in 2017 and elevated to “Vietnam Golf & Leisure Awards” from 2022 with many attractive voting categories of Golf and Golf services.

The event is held every two years by Vietnam Golf & Leisure Co., in coordination with the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the Sports Authority of Vietnam and the Vietnam Golf Association. This year’s event, after gathering online votes, the Judges Panel members, including the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the Sports Authority of Vietnam, the Vietnam Golf Association, Vietnam Golf & Leisure Magazine and international golf experts, visited high-voting golf courses and other prestigious ones in Vietnam in order to give an accurate evaluation and rating. The voting data on the website and the evaluation from each member of the judges are collected and reported to the Judges Panel to make a final decision on the titles to be awarded.

According to the data provided by the Organising Board, the number of online votes this year reached 663,335, double that of 2022, with the participation of a total of 52 golf courses to select the worthy unit for the noble title "Vietnam’s Best Golf Course 2024" and other titles. This year's voting results demonstrate the increasing efforts and determination of golf course investors, boards of Directors and staff who are increasingly receiving attention and training.

In addition to the Golf awards, there will be an additional 22 Leisure awards titles to honour golf-related service and entertainment units such as hotels, resorts, car companies, banks, etc.

Addressing the event, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh said, with rapid growth in recent years, Vietnam tourism has received prestigious regional and world awards: For 6 consecutive years from 2017 to 2022, Vietnam is the Best Golf Destination in Asia; especially in 2019 and 2021, Vietnam is the Best Golf Destination in the world. Confirming the brand, attractiveness and position of Vietnam in the World tourism map.

According to VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh, golf is either a sport or recreational activity and also a high profit service industry. Golf courses have become attractive tourist destinations. With increasing demand, golf courses will be an important piece to complete the tourism service supply chain model including resorts and entertainment. Survey data shows that Golf tourists have a much higher spending level than common tourists. Many countries in the world have focused on golf planning in their tourism development strategies and plans.

Vietnam is considered an ideal golf destination in Asia with beautiful natural scenery and a tropical climate that is very favourable for investing in developing golf courses and golf tourism. Till now, Vietnam has about 100 golf courses of 18-holes and driving ranges in operation, many of which meet international standards. Developing infrastructure and building golf tourism products is one of the key orientations in developing Vietnam tourism set out in the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy to 2030, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh stressed.

VNAT supports and encourages the Vietnam Golf Association and other golf courses to enhance cooperation with travel businesses to promote and connect tourist destinations; at the same time, participate in major international tourism expos in target markets with many potential golf tourists such as Japan, Korea, America…

“VNAT has promoted tourism in general and golf tourism in particular to domestic and foreign tourists, encouraging and promoting links in golf tourism development to organise professional tournaments in addition to improving the quality of accompanying facilities such as resorts, hotels, restaurants, health care services…”

Mr. Spencer Robinson, Chief Communications officer of Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) shared: “It is impressive that in a short time, Vietnam has become one of the world's top golf destinations. You have many attractive destinations, convenient transportation, many choices of accommodation, cuisine and unique cultural identity, friendly people and great golf courses”.

At the Award Ceremony, the Organising Board presented 24 categories dedicated to Golf awards and 22 Leisure awards titles related to service and entertainment units.
