(TITC) - The first Vietnamese Fish Sauce Festival will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from 23rd to 27th October 2024. At the Festival, a number of ingredients and dishes will be introduced for the first time, completely unique to many people such as "flower of fish sauce", "fish sauce coffee"...
The Traditional Fish Sauce Festival is organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Food Association in collaboration with the Vietnam Traditional Fish Sauce Association and departments in Ho Chi Minh City, gathering together 150 booths to display typical fish sauce products from across the country. The main activities are experiencing traditional fish sauce products and regional specialties to introduce Vietnamese culinary culture.
Remarkably, at the Festival, a number of ingredients and dishes will be introduced for the first time, completely unique to many people such as "flower of fish sauce", "fish sauce coffee"...
"Flower of fish sauce" refers to the crystallised salt grains that condense on the walls of wooden barrels and earthenware jars used to ferment traditional Vietnamese fish sauce, which are likened to precious pearls.

The traditional fish sauce festival will have an exhibition space, displaying and introducing the history and production process of traditional fish sauce, the value of craft village heritage, culinary culture through images, films, documents, etc.
Visitors can also immerse themselves in the space to experience the journey of Vietnamese fish sauce through installation art, participate in community activities, check in with the traditional fish sauce area, Vietnamese salt space... according to the region related to the typical traditional fish sauce production method.
In addition, the festival also has a Vietnamese culinary space associated with traditional Vietnamese fish sauce through activities introducing dishes and drinks using traditional Vietnamese fish sauce in processing, with traditional and creative styles.
The traditional fish sauce commercial space is a place for visitors to buy fish sauces for family use and as gifts.
In addition to commercial and culinary activities, the festival also organises forums, shares about the value of fish sauce in Vietnamese cuisine, and prepares dishes using fish sauce by Michelin chefs.
