MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ho An Phong praised Greg Norman’s contribution as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador during his first term (2018-2021), emphasizing his influential role in promoting Vietnam tourism to the world and golf communities. As one of the most successful and well-known golf legends, Norman has shown his love for Vietnam and support for the tourism industry. This reappointment reflects the ministry’s recognition of his continued effort and dedication.
“Now is a golden time to accelerate Vietnam's tourism promotion”, Deputy Minister Phong said, “as the Government has set the target of developing tourism as a key driver of socio-economic development in this new era”. He noted that Vietnam’s tourism industry has made a strong post-pandemic recovery, welcoming 17.6 million international arrivals in 2024, including 3 million golf tourists. Vietnam now ranks among the fastest-growing tourism destinations in the Asia-Pacific region.
In response, Greg Norman expressed his honour and excitement to continue serving as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador. He shared that he first visited Vietnam 25 years ago and saw the tremendous potential for golf and tourism development. As a professional golfer and tourism ambassador, he pledged to further introduce Vietnam to the world as a premier destination for golf tourism.

He also praised the success of Vietnam’s tourism sector overcoming the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and achieving incredible growth. Over the past decade, golf in Vietnam has developed rapidly thanks to the leadership of the MOCST and Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT).
In his new term 2025 - 2030, Tourism Ambassador Greg Norman will focus on fostering Vietnam’s brand as a world leading golf destination, participating in marketing campaigns held by MOCST and VNAT in key markets like the United States and Australia, and linking golf tourism with cultural and heritage experiences. Signature initiatives include supporting the Heritage Golf Festival in Quang Tri, Hue, and Da Nang.
Additionally, he will advise on sustainable golf course development in conformity with international standards while protecting the environment and promoting green tourism. Plans are also underway to cooperate with international organizations like LIV Golf to bring world-class tournaments to Vietnam.

“I’m proud to continue my journey with Vietnam as the Tourism Ambassador for 2025 - 2030”, Greg Norman said. “I will do my best to promote Vietnam not only as a destination for golfers but also as a country rich in heritage, natural beauty, culture, and friendly people. Together, we can bring Vietnam’s tourism to new heights on the global stage”.
