(TITC) - On 15 October, in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), attended the launching ceremony of Sun PhuQuoc Airways under the theme “Symphony of Sunshine.” This marks the introduction of Vietnam’s first-ever “resort airline” model, designed to connect Phu Quoc with travellers from around the world.

For the first time in Vietnam, an airline has been named after an island. The name Sun PhuQuoc Airways not only carries symbolic meaning but also reflects Sun Group’s strategic commitment to accompany the development of the Pearl Island and contribute to positioning Phu Quoc as a premier international destination and a new aviation hub in the region. The airline aims to serve as a “pair of wings” that opens new opportunities for all travellers, especially Vietnamese tourists to access Phu Quoc and famous global destinations through high-quality direct flights.
The launch comes at a pivotal time as Phu Quoc has just been designated a special administrative unit under An Giang Province and selected to host the APEC 2027 Economic Leaders’ Week, which is expected to welcome 10,000 - 12,000 delegates, including heads of state and government leaders from 21 member economies such as the United States, Russia, China, Japan... The demand for air connectivity is projected to surge. The presence of a modern airline with a well-planned and distinctive development strategy will enhance aviation and tourism infrastructure, delivering tangible benefits to the community.
Together with the ongoing expansion of PhuQuoc International Airport, the emergence of Sun PhuQuoc Airways represents an important piece in the integrated tourism - aviation growth model. It reinforces the island’s allure, recently recognized by CNTraveler (U.S.) as the most beautiful island in Asia and the third most beautiful island in the world.

At the ceremony, Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of Sun Group, emphasized that the establishment of Sun PhuQuoc Airways aims to expand travel, leisure, and discovery opportunities for both Vietnamese and international visitors with affordable fares, direct flights, and a seamless experience “from sky to shore.” For Sun Group, aviation is the final piece completing its comprehensive tourism ecosystem, helping realize the vision of making Phu Quoc and Vietnam a leading destination in the region and the world.
Attendees were treated to a captivating art performance, designed as an “inaugural flight” of Sun PhuQuoc Airways, where the group’s journey to conquer the skies was expressed through music, light, and art. The ceremony also featured the official unveiling of the brand identity and logo, inspired by the Sun symbol, surrounded by nine soft, clockwise petals symbolizing positive energy and continuous forward motion.
