(TITC) - On 12 May, as part of her official visit to Laos, H.E. Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, Member of the CPV Central Committee and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam (MOCST), had a meeting with H.E. Phet Phomphiphak, Member of the LPRP Politburo and Head of the Office of the LPRP Central Committee.
Attending the meeting were Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and various relevant departments.

At the meeting, H.E. Phet Phomphiphak expressed his delight at the visit of Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh and her delegation. He highly commended the significance of the visit, noting its vital contribution to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, and the peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
According to the Head of the LPRP Central Committee Office, both sides have recently engaged in extensive discussions, most notably regarding the preparation and implementation of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park project in Vientiane. During this visit, both parties continued to deliberate on measures to further promote deeper and more comprehensive cooperation activities.
MOCST’s Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh recalled her long-standing relationship with the LPRP Central Committee Office from her previous role. She expressed her gratitude for their support in cultural, sporting, and tourism initiatives. A key point emphasised by Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh was the effective coordination and support provided by the Office of the LPRP Central Committee to the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in implementing collaborative activities across the fields of culture, information, sports, and tourism. The Minister expressed her sincere appreciation for this partnership, viewing it as a favourable foundation for both sides to continue promoting cooperation programmes in the coming period.

Acknowledging that 2026 will be a year of significant milestones for Laos, H.E. Phet Phomphiphak praised Vietnam’s continued support for Lao cultural and artistic events. He called for even closer coordination to ensure bilateral relations remain resilient and sustainable.
Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh reaffirmed Vietnam's commitment to implementing agreed programmes effectively, contributing to the strategic and special friendship between the two Parties, States, and peoples in the years to come.
